Experimentations in Drawing

While I enjoy working in watercolor and the soft grey shading of pencil I have been thinking of doing more digital-type stuff, maybe acrylic too. I also feel like I want more of a playful, vibrant look in my art.br /br /Actually, not so much thinking about it as dreaming about it. Literally. I woke up a couple of weeks ago with an image in my mind and I thought groggily, span style=”font-style: italic;”Oh, that’s different. /span Different from some of the work I’ve been doing as of late. I have been a little resistant to making a change. Not because it’s not lovely, but it’s not in the direction my drawings have been taking me in and I had been uncomfortable in straying off course. But I realized my unconscious mind is probably telling me something — I should listen!br /br /Anyway, the cute little house above is not the dream image I had in my head. (That one to come?) I think it would make a great postcard along with other little houses. I have been thinking about houses a lot lately, actually. Besides the constant house-hunting dialog between my boyfriend and myself, the holidays are around the corner which remind me of dollhouses.br /br /I always associate dollhouses with the holidays since my grandparents built me one when I was little. (Alas, it is no more although I saved the front door and have most of the furniture.) I occasionally toy with the idea (No pun intended, I swear!) of buying a dollhouse kit, a little one, but it’s a hobby that can be both time-consuming and expensive. And when would I have time to knit up all those lovely vintage sweaters?

ohhh i love the house !!!! i have a thing for houses too !! just adorable! can’t wait to see what else is coming ! BR/xo,BR/beth
its such a sweet creation! Houses can be so cute and cozy. I remember just LOVING the dollhouse aisle in the craft store with all the huge victorian doll houses lined up…I’d like to make one for my daughter when she’s a big older and can appreciate it. A good excuse for playing with doll houses again, right???BR/nice to meet you~!BR/Heather
