My Inquisitive Helper

Spoo Kee, perhaps like most cats, assumes that everything his humans do, they do for him. For example, laying out quilt pieces on the ground. Naturally, Spoo Kee made a beeline for the colorful squares (for my nephew’s little sea-inspired quilt I mentioned before) as soon as he saw them, spread out in front of the big window in the living room. I don’t know, maybe he’s just telling me what a perfect little picnic quilt this will be.
There’s this other funny thing Spoo Kee does. (Ok, at least my husband and I think it’s funny.) Spoo Kee, like most cats, is rather lazy and finds it difficult to leave his basket; there must be good reason. But he is also – yes, once again, like most cats – very curious. Sometimes my husband and I will be talking in the hall, between our offices, and I’ll look over and see Spoo Kee peering at us from his basket:

Curious and wondering, and yet not quite ready to leave his nest; he’s just not sure it’s worth the fuss.
Well, maybe it is. Perhaps the front paws can venture out from the bed.

Sometimes this is as far as he gets.

hehehe that is so funny! My cat often meows at me and leads me to her food bowl (which is full) but all she wants me to do is pat her and tell her it’s OK to eat, and she has a little snack. She eats such tiny amounts and needs constant reassurance. Cats are the funniest things
Oh my goodness, Spoo Kee is so cute. I love the little paws on the floor! My big kitty, Angus (20 pounds of fluffy, jet black love) doesn’t realize that he’s not a handful-sized kitten anymore (he’s almost 11!) and wants to sleep on my left shoulder every night. Or on top of my head, if it happens to be snowing outside.
The life of cats – so mysterious to me. Some days they are not to be found, and others they will not leave the bed. My three kittehs are all full of personality. I am constantly amazed at the difference in personality in every single cat. I swear I cannot pull out the ribbon bin without one of them suddenly appearing out of thin air. Sometimes they get banished… when the ribbon bin gets a little too exciting…
I don’t have a cat but my dogs do the same thing when I lay quilt pieces on the floor. Oh, the power of a quilt! Not even animals can resist them! I love the fabric and colors you chose too.
Kate (my dog) does something similar – She positions herself in our hallway between two rooms so that she can keep an eye on the both of us. It’s quite a chore keeping track of the humans – you never know when they’ll choose to do something fun – or if they’ll slip out that hidden exit and disappear forever.
Love how Spoo Kee’s eyes match the fabric in the top picture. Too adorable.
Too cute!!! Kitties are always so funny in their particular little quirks and personalities. My mother has one that tends to keep to his basket (or chosen perch of the day), unless things get too exciting (or it’s mealtime). lol.
That quilt is looking so adorable, btw!!!

That is quite hilarious. Spoo kee sounds like an interesting cat. He loves the quilt so much he can’t resist sprawling all over it.
