Yea, that’s right,  I’m looking at you.  My mom is running around (per usual) getting ready for somethin’…oh yes, Thanksgiving.  Something you humans do here in the U.S.  Not sure what it’s all about though people are generally happy and lazying around - my kind of holiday!  The best part: a huge roast bird.  BIRD. Leftover….bird!   Sheesh, makes me sleepy just thinking about it.

I mean, really, really sleepy.

Dim the lights, will ya?

Wake me up when the turkey’s ready.

Happy Veteran’s Day

you do not have permission to download this photo.

Most of my family photos are at my parents’ house, but the last time I was there I took a few home with me, including this one of my Uncle’s baptism back in the 1950s; it’s the only picture I have with Grampa in his Navy uniform.  Isn’t he handsome?  He was a WWII vet along with his older brother.

I love everything about this photo - it’s clarity and inky dark colors, Dad looking down at his hands, apparently too shy to smile for the camera.  My Great Uncle looking confident in his bowtie and jacket.  The priest holding looking at my baby uncle.  I never met my Great Grandma but I like her jacket.  Of course, Grandma is simply adorable in her hat, red lipstick, coat and white gloves.  Those star brooches too!  Both my grandparents have passed on and I really miss them.

Anyway, if you have the day off - enjoy!  Regardless, I hope you all are having a lovely day.

Hang in There, Kitty

I’ve been ill for a few days, maybe just the flu or something like that; it seems like the worst is over (and by worst I mean pretty terrible as I hadn’t been that sick in a while).  Anyway, I won’t bore you with the details!  I wasn’t even going to post, I’m still tired and a little dizzy, but I thought this would be a good opportunity for some gratuitous cute kitty shots of Spoo and we haven’t had any of those in a long while (not since some time on the olde blog).

Had some Matzo ball soup today, watched too many reruns of Project Runway (I just discovered this show; I’ve know about it, of course, but in my weakened state I broke down and thought a little reality TV can’t be all bad), and snapped a couple of pics of my favorite kitty in the whole world!

Oh, and thank you for all the wedding love; I’m so glad you like the photos.  I really did feel a bit like a princess for a little while!

Have a lovely weekend, friends!

The Wedding Photos: They’re Here

Just for the record, you’ll probably never see this many photos of me in one post!  But I wanted to share a few of my favorites as well as ones in which you can see my dress (which is important, right?)  And, of course, the elusive husband makes his debut.

Chloe Aftel is the photographer and she did a wonderful job, as you will see; I was so excited when she agreed to take them and I feel lucky to have such lovely wedding photos.   (Sorry if these photos are huge for those of you with a slower connection or monitor resolution!)

I’m so glad that we went with a small (tiny) wedding.  All things considered, everyone was relaxed (Yes, including me for the most part!).  It felt really intimate and special even though this all took place at a public park, Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.  Like Chloe said, it’s like Alice in Wonderland there! And without further ado…

Macaroons (including rose, my favorite) from a local French patisserie displayed on my grandparent’s wedding china and some vintage napkins:

Edited to note: Oh, I amost forgot to mention that the six of us went to dinner immediately afterwards, back at Osteria Mozza (the place of the proposal!).  It was delicious - best. wedding. food. ever.
