Vintage Clothing, Coming Soon

vintage-skirts

The weather keeps changing on on down here in the Southland.   We had some really lovely fall-like weather and now it’s back to HOT.  I guess this back and forth has gotten me to focus a little bit on my wardrobe.  What to wear, what to keep, what to give away!  I have a bunch of vintage things, many of which I have never worn, that I’ve decided I need to part with.  For those of you that collect vintage clothing, you know that can be quite the challenge!  My closets are overstuffed as they are; as much as I love these finds I’ll probably never get around to cutting them down to fit me or perhaps the full skirt look I adore so much really doesn’t suit my frame.

Anyhow, this is good news for anyone looking for the right vintage item to add to her wardrobe because I’ll be putting some pretty things up on Etsy soon, including what you see here as well as a coveted nylon blouse (or two!), a sweet bag and maybe some trinkets too.  I’ll let you know when there’s a shop update!

Ok, I may need to cool off with an icy drink - and it’s only 11 am, ha ha!  Have a wonderful weekend, dears. :)

Style I Love is a new post theme I’m going to try out.  I can’t help but mentally organize things that I love in my head, particularly when it comes to fashion, so I might as well post about them!

Anyway, you know how something catches your eye and then you see it (or something similar) everywhere?  I’ve been that way about vintage plaid dresses for at least a few years, but especially now.  I’ve collected my favorites on flickr, above.  You might notice that both Anja (Clever Nettle) and Strawberry Koi are featured multiple times - I couldn’t help it though, they’ve got some of the best vintage plaid dresses I’ve seen around!

I have yet to find the perfect one for me (I nearly bid on one on eBay but decided it, though cute,  really wasn’t my style).   I did, however, find this precious little plaid fabric that I hope to use with one of my vintage patterns:

This pattern, Simplicity 3561, is from my collection.  I’d probably use a different (non-plaid) fabric for this but isn’t it darling?  I love the bow and, I mean, sheer plaid fabric?

Speaking of Clever Nettle, this pretty dress is for sale in her shop (Check out her other plaid pretties as well):

This is the sweetest Robin’s egg blue dress at Ninth Avenue Vintage:

Who knew plaid could be so much fun and so sweet?  Happy Wednesday, peeps!

Very simple but adorable too! All jewelry comes in post-consumer recycled gift boxes tied with a vintage or recycled ribbon.br /br /span style=”font-style: italic;”Teeny Tiny Update:br /br //spanspan style=”font-style: italic;”The Etsy site was down for a while, pretty much right after I put everything up. Seems to be okay now. /spanbr /br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_M5dKBd5_Vfk/SBdtJAVP8-I/AAAAAAAAAL0/iEWf5xdX5KQ/s1600-h/april-showers8.jpg”img style=”margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;” src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_M5dKBd5_Vfk/SBdtJAVP8-I/AAAAAAAAAL0/iEWf5xdX5KQ/s400/april-showers8.jpg” alt=”" id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194740696670532578″ border=”0″ //abr /br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_M5dKBd5_Vfk/SBdtRAVP8_I/AAAAAAAAAL8/ZqAjWvM6sxQ/s1600-h/tempest4.jpg”img style=”margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;” src=”http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_M5dKBd5_Vfk/SBdtRAVP8_I/AAAAAAAAAL8/ZqAjWvM6sxQ/s400/tempest4.jpg” alt=”" id=”BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5194740834109486066″ border=”0″ //abr /span style=”font-style: italic;”Plus I decided some of my pictures didn’t, um, do justice to the cuteness of the necklaces (Ok, maybe they were kind of crappy) so I re-took them in different lighting. Which reminds me, I really need to get that tripod./span

Poison Apple Scarflette Available in My Etsy Shop!

a href=”http://www.flickr.com/photos/faeriefurballs/2096915870/” title=”Poison Apple Scarflette pattern - Dead Delicious by The Fabled Needle, on Flickr”img src=”http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2227/2096915870_decf144bc1_o.jpg” alt=”Poison Apple Scarflette pattern - Dead Delicious” height=”496″ width=”400″ //abr /br /I’ve finally got my Poison Apple Scarflette pattern up a href=”http://fablehandmadegoods.etsy.com/” target=”_blank”online/a! It’s has been a long road. This one, above (I’m calling it span style=”font-style: italic;”Dead/span Delicious), is the first one I made up. It’s hard to photograph off-white so I wanted to have another color variation. Enter Misti Alpaca Chunky. Gosh, this yarn is so soft.br /br /Although it doesn’t have the stitch definition of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky and is more “floppy,” it has approximately the same gauge. Actually, I do like how it produces a noticeably different fabric from the Cashmerino. Variety it good!br /br /Here’s the pattern worked up in the Misti Alpaca. I’m calling it Granny span style=”font-style: italic;”Witch/span:br /br /a href=”http://www.flickr.com/photos/faeriefurballs/2096915940/” title=”Poison Apple Scarflette pattern - Granny Witch by The Fabled Needle, on Flickr”img src=”http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2086/2096915940_d12a85f800_o.jpg” alt=”Poison Apple Scarflette pattern - Granny Witch” height=”516″ width=”400″ //abr /br /I’m thrilled with how they turned out. Thanks to my wondrous testers, who helped me get this all finalized and happy. And it has been unanimously decided the pattern works up fairly quick and easy! (Two of my favorite things!)br /br /And for those crocheters not too keen on the apples or just want another look, I’ve included directions and a template for pompom ties. No, I don’t use two rings to make pompoms - this pattern includes a much faster method, in my opinion.br /br /a href=”http://www.flickr.com/photos/faeriefurballs/2096140053/” title=”Poison Apple Scarflette pattern - Rose Red by The Fabled Needle, on Flickr”img src=”http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2321/2096140053_e0db1abf6d_o.jpg” alt=”Poison Apple Scarflette pattern - Rose Red” height=”513″ width=”400″ //abr /br /Looks like Rose Red is enjoying the Christmas decorations!br /br /a href=”http://fablehandmadegoods.etsy.com/” target=”_blank”Visit the etsy shop here./a Hopefully I’ll get the pattern up on my a href=”http://www.fablehandmadegoods.com/” target=”_blank”fable*/a site very soon as well!
